The hotel’s current owner, Norman Van Den Broek, has been its steward since 2014, after a friend suggested he’d make a great publican. Now, due to a change in circumstances, he’s passing it on. The property boasts a bar, two pool tables, a jukebox, a sprawling beer garden with undercover seating for 60, and a commercial kitchen. But what truly sets it apart is its role as a gathering place. Every afternoon, locals—or ‘cockies,’ as O’Connell affectionately calls them—emerge from the paddocks to share their day’s adventures.
