Kentucky's Transfer Portal Target: A Productive Linebacker with a Bright Future
The Wildcats are on a roll, stacking up commitments and attracting top talent from the transfer portal. And now, they're eyeing a new target for their defense: Isaiah Chisom, a former UCLA linebacker with a proven track record of success.
A Rising Star in the Transfer Portal
Chisom, a California native, is a rising star in the transfer portal, with two years of eligibility remaining. He's already made a significant impact in his short college career, and Kentucky is hoping to capitalize on his potential.
A Journey to the Big Ten
Chisom's journey began at Oregon State, where he started his career as a redshirt freshman. During that season, he led the team with 75 tackles and 5.0 tackles for loss, earning a spot on The Athletic's Freshman All-American Team. But the conference-less program couldn't match the challenges of the Big Ten, and Chisom sought a new opportunity.
Productivity in Westwood
In UCLA, he found a new home in the Big Ten. Despite playing with an interim coach for more than half the year, Chisom thrived, tallying an impressive 84 tackles in ten starts. He also contributed 2.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a pass break-up. His most impressive performance came in the season opener, where he had 17 tackles against Utah.
A Top Transfer Portal Target
Chisom is considered one of the top 25 available linebackers in the transfer portal, and Kentucky is hoping to add him to their defensive lineup. The Wildcats are already home to Tavion Wallace and Grant Godfrey, and now they're targeting Chisom to strengthen their defense further.
A Controversial Decision?
Kentucky initially targeted Auburn's Robert Woodyard Jr., but he committed to Missouri on Monday night, leaving the Wildcats to turn their attention to other prospects. They're also in the mix with Kris Jones, a former Georgia linebacker who was in Lexington for a visit on Tuesday. Will Chisom be the next big addition to the Wildcats' defense? Only time will tell, and the debate is sure to spark some interesting discussions.
